This year, we're wrapping up old projects, and embarking on new studies. We're working to get data on new aspects of the park's ecology, set out new themed birdhouses, and delve deeper into citizen science.
Our biggest win in 2025; we protected over 1600 feet of Fohl Creek from mowing, and assumed responsibility to remove invasive species by Jun 1st each season.
Thanks to community involvement and funding from the Navarre VFW Post 5047, we reintroduced 71 native plant species to the park in spring of 2025. Â Below is a list of the species which were planted as seed. Some of them will establish themselves quickly, while some will take until 2029 to reach maturity. We do not expect every species to thrive, but we will be monitoring populations through the coming seasons. If 80% of species have one successful specimen, we will have succeeded in doubling the floral biodiversity of the park.
At the conclusion of summer, a selection of flowering shrub species were planted, thanks to a donation from Terra Depot Native Plant Nursery we were able to add even more biodiversity, including rare species.
